Dietmar Koch, founder of OKIN, began his career as a sales manager for Eckhard Dewert, where he was mainly responsible for the sales of electric actuators for hospital beds. In close contact with his customers, he noted that electric beds not only brought benefits to the work of health care personnel, but also helped patients to relax.
He began to explore how these products could be applied to home furniture, and ultimately developed electric actuators suited for domestic applications.
In 1986, he founded OKIN, specializing in the development and manufacture of linear drive systems for home furniture. Today OKIN products are widely used in home and office applications.

The surface is coated with a highly efficient and corrosion-resistant environmentally friendly water-based coating, with no organic solvent volatilization or residues and no odor, much healthier and more eco-friendly than oil-based paints.
